Negotiation Skills and Political Abilities: Fireside Chat with Shauna Clark

Women in Governance (WiG) is honoured to present a fireside chat with special guest Shauna Clark, US Chair and US Head of Employment and Labor, Norton Rose Fulbright, hosted by Caroline Codsi, WiG’s Founder and Chief Equity Officer.

Currently Norton Rose Fulbright’s US Chair and US Head of Employment and Labor, Shauna Clark became the first woman of color to be Global Chair at her firm and held the distinction of being the only woman of color to be Chair of an Am Law 200 firm.

During this fireside chat, Shauna will discuss her remarkable career path and share her expert insights on governance, as well as the value of negotiation skills and political abilities in career advancement. The discussion will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

We are delighted to announce that the Co-Chairs of Women in Governance’s Board—Norman Steinberg, Vice-Chair of BFL Canada and Monique Leroux, Senior Advisor at Fiera Capital and former Chair and CEO of Desjardins Group—will join us for the event’s introduction and closing remarks.

This virtual event is part of a series of workshops offered to members of WiG’s Mentoring programs. While the webinar is open to the public, the networking sessions that will follow—facilitated by Business Coach Laure Cohen van Delft—are exclusively available for mentors, mentees, and members of WiG’s Mentoring Committee.

Speaker

Shauna Clark is Norton Rose Fulbright’s US Chair as well as its Head of Employment and Labor, United States. Joining the firm in 1994 and certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization for Labor and Employment Law in 2003, she served as the Partner-in-Charge of the Houston office from 2011 until 2013 and was named Norton Rose Fulbright’s Global Chair for 2021. Shauna is a trusted advisor to clients in industries ranging from energy and utility entities to healthcare and consumer products providers, as well as banking or finance. She offers a broad range of services to employers, ranging from preventive advice and training to aggressive litigation, when a mutually agreeable settlement cannot be reached. Shauna is trusted by clients to conduct thoughtful and effective workplace investigations involving allegations of harassment, hostile work environments, discrimination, retaliation, whistleblowing, and violation of company policies, and provides strategic advice to employers on best practices, conducts management and employee training. She counsels clients on the full spectrum of employment issues including diversity and inclusion. Based in Houston, Texas, Shauna believes in giving back to the community. As such, she offers pro bono legal services to non-profit and charitable organizations.

Caroline Codsi is the Founder and Chief Equity Officer of Women in Governance (WiG), Canada’s preeminent non-profit created in 2010 with mission to help women access decision-making bodies and male dominated fields. A Citizen of the world having lived on three continents, Caroline was born in Beirut and grew up through the civil war.
