This unprecedented event will take place online on November 12 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm and November 13 from 11:30am to 3pm EST and will bring together international leaders, women and men, working together to achieve parity.

Founded in 2010, Women in Governance is the leading non-profit organization working to close the gender gap in Corporate Canada. For our 10th anniversary we are inviting you to support our mission by inspiring our viewers around the globe.

To support women in their leadership development, career advancement and access to Board seats, Women in Governance offers an international mentoring program, governance training, and high-end events giving them privileged access to exceptional renowned speakers from all over the world.

Day 1: Thursday November 12, 2020, from 5.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.

5:30 pm : Welcoming remarks, Caroline Codsi, ICD.D., Founder & Chief Equality Officer, Women in Governance

5:35 pm : Viewing of WOMAN the movie (1:54), by Anastasia Mikova and Yann Arthus-Bertrand followed by a fireside chat including the two film makers

By bringing together nearly 2,000 testimonies from women filmed in more than 50 countries, the project makes women’s voices heard and highlights the place they occupy in the world now and in the future.

The film brings the women’s lives to the screen, each shaped by her family background, culture or faith. It underscores their determination and their capacity to change the world, despite the numerous difficulties they face. WOMAN tackles themes as varied as maternity, education, marriage and financial independence…

The film takes an admiring look at all those women who, in their own way, assert themselves and combat stereotypes. A message of love and hope sent to all women around the world. An attempt to understand their lives, to look back at what has been achieved as well as everything that remains to be done.

Caroline Codsi has the honor of being part of this movie.

7:30 pm : Panel discussion with Norma Bastidas, Anastasia Mikova and Yann Arthus-Bertrand

Moderator: Caroline Codsi, President and Founder, Women in Governance

Norma Bastidas is a Human trafficking survivor, Women’s rights activist and Guinness Record Holder for the World’s Longest Triathlon. World Record in 2014 for Longest Triathlon after swimming, biking and running 3,762 miles (6,054 km) from Cancún, MX to Washington, D.C.

Anastasia Mikova is a Ukrainian-born journalist and director whose work has always focused on social and humanist issues. She works in particular as a journalist for several documentaries dealing with subjects such as illegal immigration, organ trafficking or surrogate mothers. She then became editor-in-chief of the Vu du Ciel documentary series, which marked the beginning of her collaboration with photographer and director Yann Arthus-Bertrand. She worked with him as 1^st assistant director on his documentary Human (2015), for which she directed more than 600 interviews.

Yann Arthus-Bertrand is a French director and photographer who became known to the general public in 1999 following the publication of the book La Terre vue du ciel, a worldwide bestseller with more than three million copies sold. Appointed Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Program in 2009, he directed his first feature film, Home, on the state of our planet that same year. It has been seen by nearly 600 million viewers. Building on these international successes, in 2005 he founded the NGO GoodPlanet in order to raise awareness about respecting the environment. In 2017, he opened to the public the Longchamp estate, a place devoted to ecology and humanism established in Bois de Boulogne.

11:30 am: Fireside chat Fearless Girl with Kristen Visbal and Caroline Codsi

Kristen Visbal is the sculptor of the famous Fearless Girl bronze sculpture whose feminist message first appeared in Manhattan, has spread all over the world representing a girl four foot high, promoting female empowerment. It is located across from the New York Stock Exchange Building in the Financial District of Manhattan in New York City.

Helen Kennedy, Executive Director at EGALE Canada

Helen Kennedy has dedicated her life and work to improving the lives of LGBTQI2S people in Canada and around the world. In 2007, with 22 years of experience in politics, Helen became the Executive Director at Egale Canada. Under Helen’s leadership, Egale has made significant contributions towards equality through research initiatives, which reveal the current state of inclusion; with education programs to shift the culture of inclusion; and through legal advocacy to move the needle on inclusion in Canadian society. Helen is the recent recipient of The Lifetime Achievement Award at Start Proud’s 2018 Leaders To Be Proud Of Awards.

Dahabo Ahmed, Executive Director at the BlackNorth Initiative

Dahabo Ahmed has accumulated a wealth of experience and accomplishments in the performance measurement, policy development, HR planning analysis and employment equity and diversity sectors. Ms. Ahmed has been the recipient of notable awards over the years including the exceptional service within the Federal Public Service, the Canada150 Community Builder Award, The Hope Academy community contribution award, the Ottawa Black History Community Leadership Award and most recently the top 100 under 40 Most Influential Person of African descent in support of United Nations decade.

Ayumi Moore Aoki, Founder & CEO Women in Tech

Ayumi Moore Aoki is the Founder and President of Women in Tech®, a leading global organization whose mission is to achieve gender equality and women’s empowerment in STEM fields. With thousands of members in over 70 countries, the Movement reaches women worldwide through different programs focusing on education, entrepreneurship and social inclusion.

1pm: “The Role of Women in Space Exploration” Panel

Dr. Christyl Johnson, Deputy Center Director for Technology and Research Investments at Goddard Space Flight Center – NASA

As NASA Goddard’s Deputy Center Director for Technology and Research Investments, Dr. Christyl Johnson manages the Center’s research and development portfolio, and is responsible for formulating the Center’s future science and technology goals and leading an integrated program of investments aligned to meet those goals.

Dr. Johnson came to NASA Goddard from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, where she served under the President’s Science Advisor as the Executive Director of the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), which is the principal means within the executive branch to coordinate science and technology policy across the Federal research and development enterprise. She was responsible for ensuring the establishment of clear national goals for Federal science and technology investments in a broad array of areas across the executive branch, including basic science, technology, energy, environment, natural resources, and homeland and national security. Prior to joining the White House staff, Dr. Johnson served as the Assistant Associate Administrator of the NASA. In this role, she and the Associate Administrator provided the oversight of the agency’s technical mission areas and field center operations.

Melanie Winzer, Executive Director of Programs and integrated planning at the Canadian Space Agency

Melanie Winzer joined the CSA in 2017 as the Executive Director, Programs and Integrated Planning. She is the CSA’s Senior Designated Official for Project Management, the Head of Performance Measurement and responsible for Safety and Mission Assurance. Melanie is also the CSA’s Champion for Mental Health, Wellness and Recognition and a speaker with the Federal Speaker’ s Bureau on Mental Health.

Since 2017, she has been a Board Member of the Planning and Performance Exchange, a not- for-profit organization that focuses on improving and sharing best practices in planning, performance measurement, reporting, and risk.

Prior to this, Melanie spent four years at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) as Head of Performance Management as well as the Manager, Planning, Performance, Reporting and Data. She has accumulated over 20 years of Government of Canada experience, focusing her career in the areas of performance management, results, project management, planning, public reporting as well as impact and risk assessment.

1:40pm: Rising Star inspiring more girls and women in STEM

Meet 19-year old Alyssa Carson.  At 16 years old, she became the youngest person to have ever graduated from the Advanced Space Academy, the first person to have completed all of NASA’s seven Space Camps, and received the certification in applied astronautics. This officially made her certified to do a suborbital research flight and venture into space, all before she even had her driver’s permit. She calls herself a ‘Future Mars Walker’.

Françoise Bertrand, Chair of the Board, VIA Rail Canada

Après une carrière de 40 ans comme dirigeante d’entreprise, Françoise Bertrand consacre désormais son temps à une carrière d’administratrice de sociétés. Depuis le printemps 2017, Madame Bertrand est présidente du conseil d’administration de VIA Rail Canada. De plus, elle est présidente du conseil d’administration de Proaction international et membre du conseil d’administration de Redevances aurifères Osisko. Elle est aussi vice-présidente du Conseil des gouverneurs de l’Université Concordia.

Françoise Bertrand a occupé plusieurs postes de présidente et chef de direction, notamment à la Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec, au Conseil de la radiodiffusion et des télécommunications canadiennes (CRTC) et à la Société de radiodiffusion Télé-Québec. Auparavant elle a agi à titre de doyenne à l’Université du Québec à Montréal. Elle a aussi œuvré pendant quelques années pour des entreprises de consultation, soit KPMG et à titre d’associés du Groupe Secor.

Johanne Brunet, Chair of the Board, SAQ

Johanne Brunet est Professeure titulaire de marketing à HEC Montréal.Elle est Membre de l’Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec (CPA-CGA), elle détient un doctorat (Ph. D.) en Industrial and Business Studies de l’Université de Warwick en Angleterre, un MBA de HEC Montréal et une certification en gouvernance de sociétés la désignant comme administratrice de sociétés certifiée (CAS) du Collège des administrateurs de sociétés de l’Université Laval.

Madame Brunet possède une importante expérience en gouvernance à titre de présidente et de membre de conseils d’administration de sociétés d’envergure telles que, notamment le Théâtre du Rideau Vert, la Société d’habitation et de développement de Montréal (SHDM), la Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ), et la Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC). Elle siège également sur des conseils en Angleterre.

France Chrétien-Desmarais, Chair of the Board, PRECINOMICS

Membre fondatrice et présidente exécutive de Precinomics Solutions Santé Canada inc. France Chrétien-Desmarais siège actuellement sur de nombreux conseils d’administration dans les secteurs de la santé, de la recherche et du développement social.

Elle est membre du conseil d’administration de la Fondation Brain Canada, Jeunesse sans drogue Canada, One Drop, la Fondation de l’Institut de cardiologie de Montréal et du Centre international d’études sur le jeu et les comportements à risque chez les jeunes de l’Université McGill. Elle a mis sur pied la Fondation olympique canadienne en 2007 en plus de siéger au comité olympique canadien, au comité de candidature et au conseil d’administration du comité organisateur des Jeux olympiques et paralympiques d’hiver de 2010 à Vancouver (VANOC).

Récemment, elle a été présidente du conseil d’administration de la Société pour les célébrations du 375e anniversaire de Montréal.

Déborah Cherenfant, President, Junior Chamber of Commerce of Montreal and former Chair of the Board, Company F

Experte en entrepreneuriat, particulièrement féminin, Déborah Cherenfant s’est jointe à l’équipe du Groupe Banque TD en juin 2020 comme Directrice régionale, Femmes entrepreneures, Région du Québec.

Depuis son arrivée au Québec en 2005, Déborah multiplie ses engagements et s’implique avec passion aujourd’hui à titre de présidente de Compagnie F, entrepreneurship pour femmes et d’administratrice de la Chambre de commerce du Montréal métropolitain, de la Fondation KANPE active en Haïti, de l’organisme Humanov-is en innovation sociale. En 2018, elle a été nommée par le Conseil des ministres au Conseil du statut de la femme du Québec.

Déborah est présidente et porte-parole pour 2020-2021 de la Jeune chambre de commerce de Montréal, la plus grande jeune chambre au monde.
